Chocoholic Wendy Haegarty recently surprised her guests when she walked down the aisle covered in hundreds of sweetie wrappers, during her Willy Wonka-themed wedding to her partner Ian.
Amazingly, Wendy managed to keep her weight down to 10 stone to fit into her homemade dress, even though she had to eat her way through all the bars of chocolate to give her the dream wedding dress she wanted.
Wendy credited this feat to her job as a dog walker, as well as being part of a running and cycling club.
The eccentric couple were also accompanied down the aisle by their dog who was, naturally, dressed as an Oompa Loompa.
Wendy, who has been married previously, said of the unusual event:
“I had had a traditional wedding when I was younger. I didn’t want to go through all that again – so just wanted to do something different.”
Wendy did however have a dress underneath, just in case there was a wardrobe malfunction, but luckily the wrappers all remained on to ensure that the day went off without a hitch.

For Wendy though, the day did not end with the Willy Wonka-themed celebration; the couple were also later married in a pagan ceremony, before heading off to Lustleigh village hall for a barn dance.
