Happy couple Alice and Roger Irvine turned their special day into bicycle-themed wedding, leaving their ceremony on a rickshaw in front of their smiling friends and family.
The couple freely admit to being cycle mad, and this ensured there were some unique snaps within their collection of wedding photos. Liverpool may indeed be at the start of an original wedding trend if locals choose to follow in the footsteps of Alice and Roger.
The couple say their love of bikes developed as their relationship grew, and they even raised over £3,000 for charity with a bike ride from London to John O’Groats.
The couple’s wedding reflected their own eccentric tastes, with the blushing bride telling the Liverpool Echo that:
“We had a ukulele orchestra, face painting and a Bake Off competition, for which we awarded prizes. We made the invitations ourselves and I even made a bit of my dress myself.”
The couple also had a pub quiz during the reception, and home brewed their own beer and wine, with each wine being named after a different stage of the Tour de France. This ensured a whimsical day for their guests, even if it also meant a lot of late nights bottling for the happy couple.
Not content with the wedding only though, the couple also planned a cycle-themed honeymoon; both of them decided to travel to Provence in the south of France, which – as keen cyclists will know – is a famous mountain stage of the Tour de France.
