Designs and options for your wedding cake
The cake is one of the centrepieces at any wedding, so it’s important to choose a style you both love. At Matthew Rycraft Photography, as a professional wedding photographer in the Liverpool area, we’ve seen more than a few wedding cakes in our time, so here are some of our favourites.
Fabulous florals
Flowers never go out of fashion, but a twist on the traditional botanical creations made from sugar paste is to attach a bold floral display to a plain wedding cake. It’s one way to guarantee that your flowers and cake complement one another.
Opulent ombre
Ombre designs are still big news, and surely there’s no better way to reflect your colour scheme? Whether you opt for one colour blending into plain white, or a graduated palette of shades, an ombre wedding cake can really help to tie your theme together.
Delicious drip cake
For a cake with a contemporary look, why not go for a drip cake? It’s also a great way to subtly introduce an additional flavour, or add a bold pop of colour.
Single-tier showstopper
Break the tradition of multiple tiers by displaying one tall, dramatic cake instead of two, three, four or more layers. A detailed design can work well here, so don’t be afraid of going all out for something truly dramatic.
Stacked cubes of cake
If a cake doesn’t have to be in tiers, why must it be round? Be daring with the choice of a wedding cake that comes in squares instead of circles. It’s a thoroughly modern design, and can be decorated with anything you like.
