Then again, maybe a joint wedding speech with your partner is more of your style? Your marriage will start as a real unit with no pressure.
Our guide to writing your bride’s speech offers plenty of tips and tricks. Here are some pointers to help you deliver a killer speech!
Bride Speech Length?
Let’s face it: long speeches aren’t favorites at any celebration. In addition, you don’t want the speeches to cut into all your wedding festivities since there will likely be other speeches (father of the bride speech, best man speech, maid of honor speech, mother of the bride speech, etc.). In short, pro-wedding speech writers recommend a short bride speech of around two to five-minutes.

Greetings and thanks to the guests.
First, greet your guests and thank them for attending your wedding.
Thank the VIPs.
The most important guests of honour should be thanked after the general welcome and thank you’s. Maybe guests that have travelled far, obviously family members and anyone very special to you.
Describe a brief event in your life.
You could also share a few stories about your new spouse or your bridesmaid and special friends, to add warmth to your bride’s speech.
Make it about your wedding.
Find a way to tie your sweet story to your wedding day. We suggest telling the story of how you met your spouse over a mutual love of sports. By sharing your excitement about being on the same team, you can tie that theme to your wedding day.
Toast the wedding.
Your bride’s speech should conclude with a bridal toast to anyone that has helped make your day special.
How does the bride thank her guests?
Remember that time is of the essence, so keep your bride’s speech focused only on thanking the VIP guests like your parents, in-laws, and grandparents. You can also mention your new spouse’s support and what’s most exciting about your future together.
Further, it would be best if you didn’t thank the wedding party or your wedding vendors during the reception. Send handwritten notes after the wedding instead of thanking your groomsmen and bridesmaids during the rehearsal.
Prepare your speech in advance.
It’s easy to forget to write the bride’s speech until the last minute while planning a million other details for your special day (Venue! Flowers! Dress! Cake!). For this reason, giving yourself three months to write your bride’s speech is recommended to avoid unnecessary stress and give yourself enough time. Try booking some 30-minute sessions with yourself to write your speech.
Begin by brainstorming material for the bride’s speech, then write and edit it. It doesn’t have to be written alone, so we suggest involving your new spouse. You’re a team now, so you don’t need to do this alone.
How to present a Bride Speech
Funny bride speech jokes
You can certainly make your bride’s speech more entertaining for guests by incorporating jokes, which will also make it more personalized. When it comes to bride speech jokes, it’s important to sprinkle them throughout in a subtle manner. Although this isn’t a comedy act, you can put more playfulness into your tone when it feels natural and when you can best show off your personality.
Here’s an example:
“Organizing our wedding was a challenge for the type-A planner in me, but seeing everyone that I love and cherish most surround me today made every moment worth it.”

“Thank you for being here today to make our day extra special for my new spouse and me!
Throughout our lives, we have been blessed with our parents’ constant support, generosity, and love.
X (state) holds a special place in our hearts for him and me. Since we met, this location has been the backdrop to our first dates, family gatherings, and (date) of (month) celebrations.
Our love story began at the same place, so there was a no-brainer getting married. I am so excited and grateful that the first page of our new chapter as a married couple is being written at this fabulous North West wedding venue, with all the people who mean a lot to us.
Countless people have been there for us in the past, are here for us now, and will continue to contribute to our love story as each passing year passes. We love you all. Cheers!”
Bridal Speech Endings & Tips:
The bride speech’s last line matters. You want to make it memorable and strong for your guests. A cute callback to tie everything together is also recommended, as well as gratitude for your guests’ presence. Callbacks are references from earlier in a speech. For example, imagine your last line would be: “Cheers to you all for being here and helping make our dreams come true.” Let’s say you and your spouse fell in love while singing Hall of Oates’ “You Make My Dreams Come True.”
What NOT to say
You don’t want to share embarrassing stories or edgy jokes that your guests may not get at your wedding reception. A bachelor party is a great opportunity to share those.
Delivering a bride speech
With thank yous and a sweet story, your great speech is perfect. The next step is to deliver it to the reception. Below are some recommended tips for delivering a great speech.
Don’t memorize it.
During your wedding, emotions will be running high in the best way. Worrying about forgetting your speech is the last thing you need. If one goes missing, print out your speech and bring two extra copies.
Microphone it.
Everyone hears you. If you move your head, move the mic so the sound won’t get lost. As a Liverpool wedding videographer we record all out speeches with a separate microphone.
Practice, practice, practice.
It would be best if you practiced reciting your speech at least three to six times so you could make natural eye contact while delivering the speech. Practicing in front of someone you can trust will help you improve. If you video record yourself, your wedding videographer will capture those awkward ‘ums.
