Making the most of your wedding photos
Having researched numerous wedding photographers, their particular style and the theme that you would like for your wedding photographs, you will have made your choice on who will capture the essence of your big day.
A Liverpool wedding photographer, or in fact any wedding photographer regardless of their geographical location, should also discuss presentation options with you. Think about what format you would like the memories of your special day kept in.
There are numerous options available and a good photographer should give you several choices. You may decide on a couple of formats, perhaps including wedding albums of some description for a physical visual reminder, and a digital medium with all shots on, so you can forward pictures to other family members.
Consider you options, and ask to see some samples first before making a final decision. Be wary of the photographer who promotes digital disk only format, as it may be an indication of their inexperience.
Similarly, proceed with caution if a photographer overly promotes an entire wedding package of pre-wedding shoots, numerous prints, prints on disc, and an album. You need to consider your budget, and what you actually want, without being pressurised.
The three main options are:
1. A ‘coffee table’ style Italian album
This is a modern day photo album, which sees the pictures being printed directly onto the page, as opposed to a hard copy being placed into a paged album. You can choose the structure and design of the album to pretty much to match your requirements. Options include hardback or softback, square or landscape, and a range of paper type and page layout designs.
Your wedding photographer should have a selection for you to peruse, or alternatively you can conduct some online research. Clarify timescales with your photographer, so that you know when to expect your album.
2. Traditional printed photograph
Opting for your pictures to be produced in a traditional format allows you to distribute copies to parents, grandparents and other family members. You can generally arrange a fair discount with the photographer if you are requesting a specific number of copies of prints.
Printed copies have an unrivalled level of sharpness and quality, but it is important to check as to the paper they will be printed on, as a cheaper photographic paper may mean that they fade very quickly.
3. Photos stored digitally on disc
This option can be cheaper, but it is not always the best route. When printing yourself, sometimes the quality of the print can be compromised, and some photographers still retain the rights to the photos, meaning that only they can print and distribute.
If funds are affecting your choice, speak with the photographer and see if you can order and pay for an album of pictures after the wedding.
