At Matthew Rycraft Photography, we have plenty of experience photographing children, and here are some pointers.
The first tip is addressed to their immediate family – get them used to the camera. Play around with your smartphone at home, and show them the results. If they’re relaxed and comfortable, your photographer is far more likely to get some great shots.
Our second tip focuses on the professional, who might well get down to the kids’ level in pursuit of the perfect picture. While they’re there, they will most likely train the camera on the child’s eyes. This makes for a clearer and more appealing image. If it’s dark or overcast, they will usually strive to make the face the brightest part of the entire image.
Your photographer may simply take lots of shots to ensure they get the ideal one. If every picture tells a story, you want the photos of the kids in your life to reflect their personalities and preferences wherever possible.
Another secret among pros is that a plain background can work best. This may be particularly true if the child is all dressed up, with lots of colour and fussy details. An uncomplicated backdrop makes the viewer really focus on the subject.
Of course, timing is another key factor when photographing children – and that comes mainly from experience. Hiring a professional, full-time Liverpool wedding photographer thus gives you the best chance of capturing images to treasure.
