Short or long engagement
There is no clear-cut answer to this. Some like to have a long engagement, sometimes waiting many years before they finally walk down the aisle. At the other end of the scale, it is possible to plan and hold a wedding within just a few months.
Have that chat
The first step is to have the conversation soon after getting engaged. What, for each of you, would be the ideal timeframe? As with many matters in a relationship, you may well have to compromise and meet in the middle somewhere if your ideas are very different.
Pin down priorities
Often, it’s a question of what’s most important. If you want a specific venue, Liverpool wedding videographer, florist and cake-maker, then you’ll need to plan well ahead. Here at Matthew Rycraft Photography, we know that the most popular suppliers can be booked up years in advance. If tying the knot quickly is most important, it is possible to have a wedding within a few months, but you may have to compromise on one or two details.
Precious time
A longer engagement will give you more of that most sought-after commodity – time. You could enjoy being engaged for a month or so before beginning to plan, and if your wedding date is a year or more ahead, all the better. It gives you so much more time to perfect every detail of your big day.
