Making the groom – or grooms – the focus of some of the day’s most memorable photography is a great way to ensure he feels completely included. Creating stunning images can be great fun too. Here are some creative ideas to discuss with your Liverpool wedding photographer:
Still life shots
A still life picture – whether in colour or black and white – can be most effective. Try a shot of the groom’s outfit laid out neatly on the bed, or line up the suits for the groom, best man and other significant males, and take a shot of them all.
Ready to wed
Traditionally, pictures have often been taken of the bride having her hair or make-up done, or being assisted by her bridesmaids. Why shouldn’t the groom get in on the act, with some snaps of he and his best man preparing for the big day? Whether it’s his mum straightening his tie, or his grandad, sister or brother giving him a hug, there are endless possibilities.
Expected close-ups
If the devil is in the detail, then capture it! From monogrammed ties, personalised cufflinks or comedy socks, to a carefully crafted buttonhole, show some personality by taking permanent, photographic evidence!
Go ahead and jump!
For an image that’s bursting with vitality and interest, get all the men to jump at the same time. On the count of three…
Group huddle
Think of the huddle that players have during breaks in sports matches. All heads bent together in contemplation, mutual support or prayer makes for a striking and unusual shot.
Raise your glasses
A shot of the groom surrounded by his pals as they raise a glass to him makes a moving tribute to his inner circle. Photographing this from underneath makes for a completely new perspective.
Abbey Road
It doesn’t matter if there’s no Abbey Road in your location, and surely this especially applies to those getting hitched in Liverpool! Any road crossing will do, provided the traffic stops for long enough to compose and capture a shot of the main men.
Sporting shades
Tell all the males to bring along their sunglasses for a movie star style shot or two that ramps up the cool factor.
Little Boy Blue
Bring a tiny guy into focus, as long as you’re prepared to let him steal the limelight! The little boy of a brother or friend will melt everyone’s hearts. This is particularly effective when he’s dressed just like the groom or other men of the wedding party.
Prime position
A shot focusing on the groom in the foreground with his supporting cast behind leaves the viewer in no doubt about who is the star of the day.
